Alan Hesline – Company Director
With a career spanning some 30 years, Alan has won numerous awards working on high-end productions for some of the world’s biggest companies such as Toyota, Paramount Pictures and Allianz.
Alan has a solid background in all aspects of post-production. As a director this translates into a clear vision of the final outcome at every step of the way, giving him vast control in the production environment and making him an unrivalled TVC director.
Alan has recently directed a number of local and international commercials featuring personalities such as Jennifer Hawkins, Michelle Bridges, Hayley Lewis and test cricketer Brett Lee.
Johnny Lopez – Collaborator / Director
Johnny is an award-winning director with experience across a diverse range of productions. From directing station idents (ABC 1 & 2, UK TV and Networks 10 & 7), to TV series opening title credits (Home and Away, Missing Persons Unit and Hi Five), to cutting-edge music videos (Bobby Flynn, Hell City Glamours and most notably Bob Evans which won best cinematography), Johnny continues to produce outstanding results.
He even directed a commercial for Movember, which featured on ‘Best Ads’ in February 2012.
Johnny has won awards both locally at the Sydney Sour Grapes festival and internationally at festivals in San Francisco and Cleveland. His latest short film was recently doing the rounds at Cannes and has been invited for screening at several other international film festivals.
Julian Smith – Writer/Director
Encouraged to direct by the legendary Bruce Beresford while an award-winning Advertising Creative Director, Julian’s experience doing voice-overs and stand-up comedy gave him a strong understanding of performance.
His speciality is directing dialogue, often with comic elements. Eliciting strong, natural performances from non-actors, presenters and kids in both commercials and corporate videos is a particular strength.
Julian’s long and diverse writing and directing experience across many of the world’s top brands can be glimpsed in his montage reel. As a former Ad Agency founder/principal, he has a grounded and pragmatic business approach to film-making.
Since leaving mainstream Adland, Julian has also focused on developing screenplays under the tutelage of Hollywood Script Editor Naomi Janzen. Creatively, your film project could not be in safer hands.
George Stephenson – Collaborator / Producer
Working in advertising, documentary production, commercials, corporates and radio, George has a broad knowledge of the media world. He started his career in advertising many moons ago, followed by a period in radio at 2GB before moving on to be a producer at both Supreme Film Sydney and Eric Porter Productions. Finally, George became company director and producer at the famous Burbank Films.
George is well known and well respected in the industry, contributing to TVM the kind of experience and insight one gains over a solid half a century in the industry.
Ash Maklad – Sound Engineer / Music Producer
Ash has a degree in music and has worked with prominent artists and producers such as Human Nature, Ricki Lee, Young Divas, Expatriate, Wendy Matthews and Australian Idols music producer, Craig Porteils.
Ash is also an in-demand composer and jingle writer having written original music for companies such as Optus, Vodafone, Garmin and Redwin.
Dave Molland – Editor / Film Maker
Being brought up in a family of photographers and filmmakers, Dave was given an early education in the industry. Over the years, Dave has donned many hats as a director, editor, audio engineer, cameraman and even voice over artist.
He began working for TVM in 2012 and has since become an integral part of the team, having been involved in various areas of post-production such as editing, motion graphics and sound for countless TV commercials.
Dave is coincidentally an accomplished musician and well-known session bass guitarist as well as a member of the ARIA award nominated indie band, Expatriate. Having toured most of the world performing alongside the likes of Powderfinger, Silverchair and Placebo, Dave certainly has a few stories to tell.
Grant Andrews – Sound Engineer / Editor
Grant is an enthusiastic and promising young sound engineer / editor who has been with TVM since 2012.
He has been involved with live production since the age of 14, working as a sound engineer and lighting operator at high school. He also gained experience from a very young age crewing for The School Spectacular and assisting with live sound at The Big Day Out, working with high profile acts such as Pearl Jam and Disturbed.
Whilst at TVM, Grant has completed 100s of hours in the industry and is always eager to learn new skills. With all of these achievements under his belt and still in his early 20s, Grant has a very bright future ahead.
Rebecca Tapp – PR Manager
With nearly a decade in the communications Industry, there are few individuals who know as much about the art of media. As well as helping TVM with its schedules and organisation she runs a successful business promoting big name speakers for events and is an award winning consultant, selling to clients as well as speakers bureaus. This makes her the perfect person to manage even the most demanding talent on our shoots.
Put simply If you need advice, inspiration and direction from someone who has the big connections.– you need someone like Rebecca in your corner.
Antigone Hall – Production Manager
Antigone started out in the SBS tape library at 19 years of age and was promptly promoted to director’s assistant where she really took to the adrenalin and pressure of live television.
After a decade at SBS she started freelancing as a director’s assistant and production manager when she was promptly snapped up by TVM. Antigone brings with her years of experience in live TV at SBS and is the backbone of TVM production machine. A logical, quick-minded, problem solver, Antigone ensures that everything works like clockwork.
